Sammi Grzybowski

President, Head Trainer

Sammi has worked with and trained animals all her life, growing up next door to her uncle’s farm and competing in 4-H. With a passion for the animal community, she earned a double major in Conservation and Field Biology from the University of Wisconsin. In 2019, she began her role at the Delta Animal Shelter, specializing in animal care and adoption. The following year, Sammi assisted local first responders in evacuating and shutting down the puppy mill in Rock, Michigan, rescuing over 100 dogs.

After joining D&D as a kennel technician, she quickly attained the role of trainer. While training at D&D, she continued her work with the Delta Shelter, helping to desensitize fearful and reactive dogs, and teaching them good manners and obedience to promote adoptions.

In addition to serving as the D&D Dog Dynamics company president, Sammi is also a professional K9 handler, certified alongside K9 Nuke, through NAPCH (the National Association of Professional K9 Handlers). She and Nuke work together to provide explosives and firearm detection at events and venues around the country. In 2023, Sammi and Nuke were deputized with both the Alger and Menominee County Sheriff’s Offices to provide support for tracking and explosives detection.

Through her K9 career, Sammi takes every opportunity to expand her training knowledge, ensuring as much diverse experience as possible. To date, she has trained with over 50 national and international established law-enforcement K9 units, and over a dozen training organizations, representing an array of certifying organizations.

In addition to her work with both pet and working dogs, Sammi also serves as a board member for Canines for Comfort, a regional 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which trains comfort dogs to support child advocacy centers across the Upper Peninsula. Through D&D, Sammi donates training to ensure all Canines for Comfort dogs are up to the task of providing relief and well-being to those in need.

Sammi spends her downtime dock-diving with K9 Nuke, practicing nose work with her three Australian Shepherds (Ri, Sully, and Rory), and helping shelter dogs come out of their shells, to gain confidence for their new lives in loving homes.
